Our Pet Care Team

leo

Leo Our Hospital Cat

Hello, Visitors! I am Leo and I own this place. I joined the team in 2014 after I was anonymously left at their front door in a box one night. The humans think they rescued me and that I am grateful for living here, but little do they know that I am really in control of all that goes on here.

You see, I am the eyes and the ears of this hospital. You may see me lounge in various places when you visit here. Even though it appears that I am sleeping, do not be fooled. I am watching closely to be sure that your pets are treated appropriately and that the team members do their job well.

When I am not working here, I enjoy searching for treasures in the trash cans of the offices. I also like to inspect everyone’s drinks and lunches and help myself to them when they are not watching. I do like to chat with your pets when they are here, and it is amazing to hear the various stories they have to tell! Feel free to look for me and say hello when you are here.

riley

Riley In Loving Memory

Our sweet Riley was Riverstone Animal Hospital’s first four-legged team member. He joined our team our opening year of 2002 and quickly became the heart and soul of RAH. He is well remembered for drinking out of the running faucets, falling asleep on our surgery table, leaving "presents" in various hidden places, and most of all for reminding us all to never forget to enjoy the moment.

He peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June of 2013 after a long-standing illness, surrounded by his friends and team members from RAH. Rest in peace, Riley. You live on in all of our hearts.

sherry-update

Sherry Practice Manager

Hello, my name is Sherry and I am the Practice Manager here at Riverstone Animal Hospital. I joined the Riverstone family back in 2015.  I have been in the veterinary field for over 15 years and couldn't see myself doing anything else. As a child, I knew I would be in veterinary medicine. I grew up in Las Vegas , NV and started my career out there as a veterinary assistant. That is when I met my husband. He is now a firefighter/EMT here in Georgia.

We have two sons that keep us on our toes always. Not to mention the fur babies; Maggie our Golden Retriever and Sir Axel our Rottweiler. We also have two bearded dragons named Godzilla and Godzilla Jr.  We have also started a mini farm in the back.  Mia and Mya are our two goats, then we have three male turkeys that have free range with our chickens. We also have a rooster making sure that we are all up and ready to start our days bright and early.

One of my favorite things to do is travel with my family. When I say family, I mean my fur babies too. Everyone is growing so fast.  Those times are the most precious moments of my life.

As a Practice Manager, my true passions are providing inspirational leadership to the team by creating a positive, professional relationship as well as manage effectively to allow associates to grow and develop professionally within the practice. The overall satisfaction of our clients is also something I find truly important. It is expected for each one of our team members to be able to connect with our clients and patients to ensure that we are giving you the proper care and education. If at some point during or after your visit you feel that this has not happened, please don't hesitate to speak with me. Our doors are always open.

Hi!  My name is Laura.  I am a registered technician and I have been a part of the Riverstone family since 2003. I have worked as a technician since 1998 and received my license back in 2005. I am most passionate about patient care but also making sure you and your pet(s) are comfortable during your visit with us.

At home my family consists of an amazing little boy name Logan.  We also have a dog named Leo and too many cats to name, as well as an adorable bunny who is Logan’s best friend. We love them all!

When I am not at work I like to spend my time with my immediate and extended family. Most weekends we just hang out at one of our homes and let the kids play.

I am here for you and your family, two legged children and four!  Let me know if there is anything I can do to make your visit with us better.  I look forward to seeing you soon!

Jerica Registered Veterinary Technician

Hi my name is Jerica and I am a registered veterinary technician.

I started my journey at Riverstone during my internship while pursuing my career as a vet tech at Gwinnett Technical College. After two months I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to become a full time vet tech here at Riverstone. I look forward to broadening my knowledge here and becoming close to all the clientele and their pets. I knew I always wanted to work with animals as a little girl. I started to fulfill that dream a year before I began college. That experience only made me want to pursue my career as a veterinary technician even more, so I changed directions in college and applied to Gwinnett Tech to become a registered vet tech.  I was so excited when I got accepted and I worked very hard for two years.  I graduated in May 2014 and I became licensed in August 2014! My favorite thing about being a vet tech is nursing care and constantly learning how to better care for your pets. I cannot picture myself working in any other field.

Hi, my name is Shelby and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician.

I am a recent graduate from Gwinnett Technical College where I obtained my degree in veterinary technology. I started my veterinary technician career here at Riverstone Animal Hospital in May 2017. As an animal lover, I have always known that I wanted to work with animals and I am so thankful for the opportunity to go to school to study my passion. I was so excited that Riverstone Animal Hospital saw my passion and potential and wanted me on their team, its my dream job! The best part about working as a veterinary technician is developing personal relationships with our patients, clients, and staff who all have the same goal in mind: keeping loved pets healthy and happy!

Sam D. Veterinary Assistant

Hello! My name is Sam and I am a veterinary assistant. Animals have been my passion my entire life and I have been working with animals professionally since 2009. I am originally from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and spent the first 4 years of my career at an animal shelter in southern Delaware working as kennel staff and later a vet assistant. We moved to Georgia 5 years ago and was working as a vet assistant at a corporate veterinary hospital in Cobb county. I became a part of the Riverstone family in March 2018. In addition to working full time with the Riverstone team, I am also diligently working on earning my veterinary technician degree. I also volunteer weekly taking care of homeless pets at a local animal shelter. I met my husband while working for the shelter in southern Delaware when he came in to adopt a hound puppy. We became happily married in May 2017. We have two dogs, our lab/beagle mix Paris who is 13 years young and Bandit (the hound puppy) now 6 years old. I am honored and proud to be a part of the team here at Riverstone Animal Hospital. I can’t wait to meet you and your pet and provide you with the amazing care and customer service you deserve!

Hi! My name is Devon, and I'm brand new to the veterinary field. I joined Riverstone Animal Hospital in 2016.  Before I joined the amazing team here at Riverstone, I was a retail manager. While I enjoyed what I did, I decided to leave the retail world to follow my dream of working with animals.

I have been married for two years and we have two beautiful girls!   I'm also the proud mommy of three large rescue dogs. My husband and I would love to have our own animal rescue facility someday.

I am so proud to be part of the team here at Riverstone! The doctors and staff have so much compassion and love for animals. I feel right at home! I love getting to know all of the clients and patients, and I am so excited to get to know your pet!

Denise Client Service Representative

I recently moved from FL to GA and love the N. GA mountains. I grab my camera and go jeepin’ every weekend. My happy place is being outdoors finding new creeks, trails, animals and things in bloom. Although I am new to Riverstone, I started in 2017, I have been in the veterinary field for over 10 years. After 15 years in banking, I started out in customer service for an animal hospital in FL but then became the compliance and bookkeeping manager. My move to GA has me back in customer service at Riverstone and it’s great working for a group of people who truly love what they do, their clients and their patients. I have had animals in my life for as far back as I can remember and cannot imagine life without them

ashley

Ashley Client Service Representative

I have been in the animal industry for over 15 years.  Previously, I worked in management for a major animal retailer, eventually transitioning into the veterinary field. When I joined veterinary medicine I chose a specialty practice where I worked at the front desk and played a large role in client communications and management.  I joined Riverstone in 2017 and enjoy caring for our clients and their pets on a daily basis.  I am here to help you in any way you need and I will find a solution to any challenge that may present.

Animals have always been a true passion of mine. I’m currently owned by a small zoo, both furry and feathered. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, along with training and competing in dog sports.

crissy

Crissy Pet Care Lead

Hi! My name is Crissy and I joined Riverstone in 2016. I was a stay at home mom for over 7 years.  It was hard to make the decision to go back to work, but coming here and taking care of your babies makes it a little easier. I get to experience all of the fun, quirky & cute habits your 4 legged (sometimes 3 or 2) fur babies.

My goal as kennel lead is to make sure you and your fur family member(s) are as stress free as possible while you have to be apart from each other. I always handle them with respect and compassionate care and deliver them back to you refreshed, clean , and sometimes bonkers with excitement !

At home I care for and am also cared for by all of my boys. I have three children: 3,4 & 7 and they are all boys! Mud loving, truck driving, adventurous nuggets. They keep me on my toes most of the time and are mostly the reason for my coffee intake.  I also have they my three dogs to keep me busy.  I rescued two of my babies, Maximus Prime, my guard dog and Indigo, who has the most gentle jump up and sweetest cuddles. Lastly, my spitfire Blue Heeler, Tripod, who was hit by a car 6 months into her little life. Thankfully the wonderful Doctors and Team here at Riverstone didn’t hesitate to jump in and help us figure out the best solution for our littlest member. Ultimately, we decided to have the leg amputated. Dr. Greg performed the surgery and within days our pup was up and running! Literally!

The team that has been put together here at Riverstone is awesome! I couldn’t ask for a better place to grow. I look forward to coming to work every day and caring for your sweet fur babies, whether it be ball throwing and playing in the backyard or a gentle reassuring hand to soothe their worries.  Whatever they require I can promise you that myself and the rest of the team will do our very best to accommodate your pet’s visit with us.

danyelle

Danyelle Veterinary Assistant

Hello! My name is Danyelle. I started working in the boarding facility here at Riverstone Animal Hospital in 2016. Over the years I have now become a Veterinary Assistant.  My greatest passion is working and interacting with all kinds of animals. This has been my passion for as long as I can remember!

I played basketball for the University of North Georgia before I graduated.  I now hope to follow my dream into Vet School to continue working with animals.

While I’m not at school or here at the facility, I enjoy playing sports, kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding.

I absolutely love caring for all of your animals and making them feel loved, safe, and comfortable during their stay here. I look forward to meeting you and your precious fur-babies!! If there is anything we can do to better their stay, please don’t hesitate to let us know! I look forward to seeing you soon!
